MY REVISED JOURNAL (2nd Term)

                     Supersize Me: It’s Time To Stop Balming Fat People For Their Size

In this writing, the writer talks about the obesity problem, especially in America. Obesity is an illness which is caused to eat and take a lot of calories.

               
                Obesity is not only in the United States, it is "but also "among the most common illnesses in the World. Some people from every country suffer from this illness. As we said before taking a lot of calories causes this illness. A lot of people go on a diet to get rid of these extra kilos or they have an operation to get the fat out of their body, which is called liposuction. Of course lying under knife is a dangerous subject, it is better to go on a diet than to have an operation.
                Why is there this illness? According to the experts, busy working hours, rushy life and not finding enough time to eat properly and proper foods are some of the reasons. People are so busy during day time and they can not find enough time to eat proper healthy foods and they eat junk food. Junk food consists of a lot of calories and this causes obesity. And according to some experts, the calory increase in foods causes this illness, as well. They say “1960 McDonald’s food’s calories were around 560 calories, but today’s McDonald’s food’s calories are 1500 and this is too much. İt is almost 3 quarter of the one which experts recommend women to have in a day.” As McDonald’s is most popular in the U.S., Americans suffer from this illness much more than other country people.
                In conclusion, Obesity is a serious health problem and people should try to get rid of it as soon as possible by doing some exercises and going on a diet. If we control the amount of  calories we take in a day, we can get rid of this illness and live in a good health and we can have a good appearance.

Powerphrases: The key to gaining respect
               
                Respect is one of the most important values in the World. In turkish culture, respect has an important place, too. Gaining respect is not an easy subject. As it is hard to gain respect, it is easy to lose the respect you have gained.
                 
               There are some kinds of gaining respect. One of the important ones is powerphrases, saying more things with less word. This is not an easy aspect. A few people manage to use this method. By using this method, one can gain respect but this is not the only case to gain respect.
               
                In this writing, the writer talks about how important usage of less words to tell more. That is what powerphrases is and how it is done. Using powerphrases makes an important influence on the audience. If you tell more things with less words, people will respect you more. As we said before, respect is not easy to gain. People should make some effort to gain it. Making good impression, influence on people is an important fact. 

                

              Age and social status are some of the factors which make people respect you. But age and social status are not always enough to be respected. You need to combine age, social status and powerphrases. In your daily life you should have all of these. There is education of using powerphrases. One should get this education to use powerphrase properly. And besides, you should have knowledge about powerphrases and how to use it. When we combine all of these things, we can gain much more respect from the people who are around us.
              
               In conclusion, gaining respect is not easy, we should make some effort to gain it. You should deliver what you are talking about to the listener – audience correctly properly.


REFLECTION ON ARTICLE 1(2nd Term)



CAN WOMEN AND MEN BE FRIENDS    

In this writing, the writer mainly talks about the possible relationship between men and women. He put pressure on the subjects of the genders.

Firstly I agree with the writer. In today’s World, women and men are almost equal to eachother.  But their characteristic features and their pleasures are different, so this may be a block for them to be friends. But a lot of people try to tolerate these differences. And they are trying to be friends. 

In some cases both men and women share common habits. This lead them to be friends easily. For example, They love the same  music group and this bring them together.  They love the same films and they come together. Sharing common habits, people can become friends.

They can be friend in terms of occupation subject. For example, Doctors can be friends with opposite sex doctors or nurses. Female teachers can become friends with male teachers. Primary school, high school, university students can be friends as they spend some time together. And sometimes, they become even lovers when they do common things or spend time together.
             


            And There is cross-sex relationships as well as opposite-sex relationships. In this situations people create more comfortable atmosphere. Men can easily share their thoughts and opinions with their male friends. And they can keep their secrets among themselves. When they spend time with cross-sex friends, both women and men become more comfortable and relaxed. They can speak easily what they want or think. When women come together, they especially talk about their emotional aspects. And women can talk about their own problems with cross-sex friends.
            
            In general aspect women and men can be friends when they share common things or they spend time together. Even they might be lovers if they share much more time together. But in cross-sex relationships, both men and women become more relaxed and comfortable
.

TELEVISION IS HARMFUL! MULTIMEDIA (2nd Term)


Television is bad for the brain 
 As we can see in the video, television has got a lot of bad influences on our physical and mental health. It emits a lot of radiaton. Radiation effects our body and our brain badly. It may cause cancer. It may cause visual problems as well. Those who watch television stay in a place for a long time without moving. This causes body problems such as backache, neckache, headache.  It has bad influences in terms of finance. It consumes electricity a lot. Television prices are really expensive. I think expensive televisions are not needed,  low priced television may meet our needs. It  causes children badly. It effects children’s  mental health and their development really badly.  Children take television characters as a model in terms of violence and bad behaviour. To sum up, television has a lot of bad effect on people.

TELEVISION IS HARMFUL! (2nd Term)



Today, television is like one of our family members. Everybody has television in their houses. And it is one of the most influential communication devices. Most people regard television as a useful device. But I don’t think it is useful, whereas, it is harmful for people, especially young people.
Television has a lot of harmful effects on human health. First, it has bad effects on our eye health. We, people, watch television for at least 2 hours a day. When our eyes are exposed to the bright LED light this comes from television screen, we have a visual impairment. Secondly, televisions emit a lot of radiation. Radiation is harmful for every member of families but its effects are on children mostly. When children are exposed to too much radiation, their both mental and physical development is affected. All these things are harmful on human health. Television is also harmful for bone or skeleton health because while people watching it, they move very little and their bones develops very slowly.

Television also changes people’s daily routine, make them not do their jobs or achieve their goals.  First, there are a lot of women who watches television so deeply that she can’t realise how time went and it became evening. Also, if children or students do their in the room in which there is a television, their concentration on their homework and their goals are less than normal, and they lose their attention. It causes people to read fewer books and to move or act less. This leads people to become less intellectual people. People forget about their friends and their social life while they are watching TV. They contact with their friends rarely. They become asocial individuals.  
However there are some people who think television is useful when it is watched for gaining knowledge or information or for educational purposes. But there are a lot of knowledge or information sources which we can use without any harmful effect. For example, reading a book or a newspaper we can also gain information. Almost everybody has Internet in their houses. We can use Internet as a fast and safe information source. Watching television for gaining information takes too much time. Reading or surfing on the Net is much easier and short in length.
To conclude, television has a lot of harmful effects on people in terms of their life and their health. Most people regard television as a useful device but its harms are much more than we think we know. We shouldn’t allow it to be a member of our family. We should use it for 1 hour at most if we want to protect our health. We shouldn’t let our children watch it too much as it affects them badly in terms of real life and school life. And we must keep in mind television is our enemy not friend.
