                                               THE SLOGAN “I BRAIN ODTU”

            I dont actually agree with those who found the slogan “I BRAIN ODTU”. It means that I think of Odtu. We cannot decide on a slogan only in a way, this slogan is in the purpose of only the thinking ability. We also live feel smell ODTU. A slogan must make people be aware of the beauties around them.Therefore, the slogan should be an attractive amd it should draw attention of those who hear it.  

           My own slogan for ODTU is Mutually Experiencing The Unlimitedness. That is, it is about gaining knowledge, experience from the unlimitedness such as resources, beauties, old experiences, technology that ODTU has. 

Free Writing - MERLIN

As stated at the beginning of the episodes of this series, “In a land of myth and at the time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young man, his mane: Merlin” this TV series is about a legend which is thought to have been around Albion, around England. There was a kingdom named Camelot and its king named The Arthur Pendragon. Before Arthur became a king, his father, Uther Pendragon, was on the throne. Because his wife was dead due to magic, The king, Uther, was against using magic and started killing people who had magical power. And the main character of the story, Merlin, was a servant boy of Arthur Pendragon. He was sent to Camelot by his mother to escape from the invaders. He had magic as well but kept this secret from his master, Arthur, so as not to be noticed and killed. The physican of the castle, Gaius, was the closest man to the king Uther. Merlin’s mother knew him, and entrusted Merlin to Gaius. Gaius knew that Merlin had magic and he also kept this secret from Uther.Merlin and Gaius lived in the same house, but in different chambers. And Morgana, daughter of Uther and sister of Arthur, had magic as well but she noticed this fact after a period of time passed. In the story magic could not be learned. It was gained from birth. It passed from parents to their children. Morgana had magic because her mother is different from Arthur’s mother. That is why Arthur had no magic. And Gwen, firstly the servant of Morgana but then The Queen of Camelot and Wife of Arthur Pendragon, was a daughter of a blacksmith who worked for the soldiers of the kingdom. She was a poor servant girl first, but when Uther Pendragon was killed by an enemy of the kingdom and Arthur sat on the throne, she became the Queen to the throne. If a story had magic and there was no dragons, it wouldnt be a good story. The Dragons in Camelot lived up to 1000 years and knew everything. They had strong breath. If they blew towards a sword, that sword turned into an Excalibur, which could kill the immortals. After Uther was killed, Arthur sat on the throne and started directing the whole kingdom. And Merlin became the closest man to the king. It was Merlin’s destiny to protect Arthur from his enemies. There were masters of each dragon and Merlin was the last dragon master who was still alive and this made him more responsible boy and he was in danger all the time. To sum up, the destiny of a kingdom rested on the shoulders of a young man.

                  WHAT IS AN IDEAL UNIVERSITY LIKE FOR ME

         

        An ideal university should meet the expectations of its students. It should provide its students with the neccessary elements of schooling and teaching. It should teach what the modern society needs students to do. It should know what students need and want. It should know not every student is the same. It should train the students as an attentive member of the society. It should train the students in terms of freedom democracy and knowledge. In that case we can easily say that metu can be an ideal university because its way of teaching and raising people is almost the same as the criterias I mentioned above.

                WHAT METU MEANS TO ME

Being a student at Metu has always been a dream for me. The people around me has always said that Metu is a great university, it’s one of the best universities. When I learned that I managed to attend to METU, i was not as happy as i had been before the examination, because my exam result came better than i had expected.

I have found what i have expected at METU. Metu has met my expextations. METU has everything that an university should have. Both the recourses and technology it has and the teaching methods and teachers are perfect.

Besides its a lot of advantages, it has some challenges for me. At first the transportation. I have to walk almost 35 minutes to come my department. I stay out of the campus. And the cafeteria is far from our department. We can not have our lunch there. We have to have lunch in the canteen of department. Another challenge is that the campus is too big J i get lost some times if I try to go somewhere I dont know.

Merlin a new legend REFLECTION

       

After a good solid 2 seasons it started to go down hill in Series 3. With lazy writing being used with time jumps it has resulted in very poor development of characters on screen. The Series 5 news doesn't really provide positive excitement as it seems that the lazy writing has only begun... Poor use of darkness (they try too hard), bland and repetitive characters (enemies within the walls and Morgana becoming queen in the finale of back-to-back seasons), and very historically inaccurate (people in the medieval ages only lived until 60 and Gaius is far older than that).
Good characters (excluding Agrapain), but they aren't doing much with them other than expressing what they call 'darkness'.
I rate it 6 out of 10 because I liked the first two seasons but as the lazy time jumps kicked in, it made me feel like I have missed an episode which has made me slowly tune out...

Because I come from Aydın and(No Need) I am not used to this type of (such) weather. But(However) never mind I will get used to (it). I feel great especially psychological(ly) aspect. Because I’m at(No Need or At Which) where I want to be. Today,there are lots of universities all around the world in my opinion(must come in front of the sentence),most of them(Which) aren't able to educate their students (Well) enough to find good solutions to the problems that they face. Because I come from Aydın, I am not used to this type of such weather. However, never mind I will get used to it. I feel great especially psychologically. Because I'm where I want to be.In my opinion, today, there are lots of universities all around the world, most of which aren't able to educate their students well enough to find good solutions to the problems (that) they face.

ERROR CORRECTION SHEET

1. When ı(I) first heard that ı(I) had been accepted to Middle East Technical Unıversity(University), ı(I) was disappointed. Because ı(I) did not like Ankara as a city. But my opinions(opinion) have(has) changed over time dramatically. Because Middle East Technical Unıversity is really a different world in Ankara. 2. It has been only one month since I came here. But I got used to this environment. Because, first of all, people from all of ages in(no need) here respect to each other. 3. I love Ankara,I love my dormitory,I love my new friends, I love my department(I love Ankara, my dormitory, my new friends, my department),I am content with everything which are(No Need) belongs to METU. 4. If someone wants to walk, he or she can go and walk. And it is nice place to go and meet with my (new) friends 5. We can easily see this by watching TV,surfing on the internet or maybe just looking around us.Because there are many people getting(No Need) graduated from different kinds of universities but they're not even able to know what's going on around them or they don't even try to find good ways to improve the countries that they live in. 1.
